Matt specializes in customizing Toyota Production System-style strategies and concepts in organizations. One approach used is to tailor a value-stream focused work plan that educates and guides the organization as they improve their business to the desired future state and develop a sustainable culture. Another specialized approach uses an Operating System Design (OSD) methodology for design of new value streams and their processes with flow connections. As both a student and practitioner of the Toyota Production System for more than a dozen years, Matt has gained real-world experience working for companies in numerous industries and cultures, while supporting and guiding transformations in product development, process design, production, distribution, and more around the globe. Matt now guides companies through his own consulting company (Zayko Consulting), as well as being a member of the TWI Network of lean practitioners and a faculty member of the Lean Enterprise Institute. Prior to this, he was the Global Continuous Improvement Director for Pall Corporation, and responsible for developing and launching the Pall Operating System. Before working for Pall, Matt also worked for Chrysler Corporation, Gelman Sciences, and General Motors / Delphi Corporation under the direction of TWI Network sensei, and had line management responsibility in design, engineering, production control & logistics, and operations. Matt holds a B.S. in Physics from Alma College and a M.S. in Industrial & Operations Engineering from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He has authored numerous works, including articles that have been published in “Journal of Quality Engineering” and “IIE Solutions” Industrial Engineering Magazine, and a chapter in Becoming Lean chronicling Gelman Sciences transformation. In addition, Matt has presented at the University of Michigan Lean Manufacturing Conference (2005). |
