Hong joined Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) in 1992. During his career with production engineering, he was trained in Japan by Toyota Production System experts and was responsible supporting new plant expansions, new vehicle model launches, PC/logistics, and line and kaizen activity in the US. After 8 years experience with Toyota, Hong joined the effort to build Ford's new manufacturing facility at the River Rouge site in Dearborn as one of the assembly launch leaders. He helped the facility to reach its goal of being Leanest & Greenest by providing lean value stream of production layout, implementing lean systems as well as lean management infrastructure, mindset and capability. Beginning in 2005, Hong consulted with numerous manufacturing and non-manufacturing organizations through McKinsey & Co. and later as part of Lean Enterprise China. Hong was recognized by clients as a combination of an orthodox firsthand lean professional and an experienced consultant and educator. Hong also has cross-cultural experience within Western and emerging economies, especially China. He has provided clients the maximum value-adding. Hong is the founder and president of LeanOrigin, a lean consulting firm in Shanghai, China. |
